Car Perth covers a lot of ground, and there are a lot of interesting places to see and things to do. The best way to get around is by car. We can recommend a reputable local hire car service who can have a car either waiting for you at the airport or at Albacore Bed and Breakfast when you arrive.

Public Transport Perth's public transport network operates five high speed railway lines connecting Perth CBD with the satellite cities of Joondalup, Mandurah and Fremantle, and the eastern suburbs of Midland and Armadale. Bus services feed into the rail line to provide efficient and quick transport around the city. We're happy to provide bus and train timetables to anyone wishing to use the system. See Transperth for more information. |
Bus Tours Common day-trip bus tours from Perth include the world heritage listed Pinnacles desert and the Swan Valley tourist drive that takes in some of the wineries that nestle in the foothills of the Darling Range. Longer adventure-style tours also take visitors up the northern coast or inland to spectacular scenery unique to the region. |
Swan Valley Perth's main river is the Swan, which meanders down from Darling Range 20 kilometres east of the CBD. In the rich soil at the foot of the enscarpment wine makers have found a perfect home to grow grapes for world class wines. Over 20 beers are also brewed in the Swan Valley, making tasting tours a popular tourist choice. See www.swanvalley.com.au for more information.

Whale Watching From August to October families of humpback whales migrate south from their tropical breeding grounds to their feeding waters near Antarctica. Their migration route takes them straight past Perth, and many whales take advantage of the sheltering reefs and islands off the Perth coast to cruise along the surface in the calm sea. Whale watching tours are available from Hillarys Boat Harbour/Sorrento Quay during these times. See www.rottnestfastferries.com.au for more information on whale watching and twilight cruises. |
Pinnacles About two hours drive north of Perth is the Nambung National Park, home to the unique Pinnacles desert. These amazing limestone outcrops are unique in the world. A day trip by car or tour bus, or an overnight stay in the nearby town of Cervantes comes highly recommended.
